Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 24, 2026 Last Updated: May 24, 2026

At Summit Windows and Doors, we treat your home like our own — and that goes for your personal information too. As a family-owned business serving Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, we know that trust is the foundation of every relationship we build with our clients. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit our website or request a free in-home consultation, how we use it, and the choices you have along the way.

By using summitwindows.ca or sharing your information with us, you agree to the practices described below. If anything here isn't clear, we'd rather talk it through than leave you guessing — give us a call any time.

Who We Are

Summit Windows and Doors is a Canadian, family-owned window and door installation company based in Wheatley, Ontario, proudly serving homeowners across Windsor-Essex County and Chatham-Kent. We specialize in energy-efficient Vinylguard windows, Novatech doors assembled in-house, and PVC patio doors.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, "Summit," "we," "our," and "us" refer to Summit Windows and Doors. "You" and "your" refer to anyone who visits our website, fills out a form, or otherwise communicates with us.

What Information We Collect

We only collect the information we genuinely need to serve you well — no more, no less. That's family policy.

Information You Provide Directly

When you book a free in-home consultation, request a quote, or contact us through our website, phone, or email, you may share:

  • Your name (first and last)

  • Your email address

  • Your phone number

  • Your home address (so we can come measure and quote)

  • Project details you choose to share (window styles, door preferences, room dimensions, photos, design ideas)

  • Any messages or questions you send us through the contact form

  • Payment information if you become a customer (handled directly with you at the time of service — we do not store credit card data on our website)

Information We Collect Automatically

When you browse summitwindows.ca, we (or our service providers) may automatically collect basic technical information, such as:

  • Your IP address and approximate location (so we know which service area you're in)

  • Browser type and device information

  • Pages visited, time spent, and referring website

  • Cookies and similar technologies (see the Cookies section below)

This helps us understand which pages are most helpful, fix problems, and make the site easier to use — it's not used to identify you personally.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to do the things you'd expect a window and door company to do:

  • Schedule your free in-home consultation and confirm appointments

  • Prepare an accurate quote for your window, door, or patio door project

  • Communicate with you about your project, installation timing, and any questions you have

  • Provide after-installation service, warranty support, and follow-up

  • Refer you to government rebate and incentive programs (like Natural Resources Canada programs) where you qualify

  • Send occasional updates about new products, promotions, or seasonal offers — only if you've asked us to

  • Improve our website, our products, and our customer experience

  • Meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations under Canadian and Ontario law

We do not sell your personal information. Ever. That's not how we treat family.

How We Share Your Information

We keep your information close, but there are a few situations where we may share it with trusted partners — always on a need-to-know basis:

  • Our manufacturers and suppliers (such as Vinylguard for windows and Novatech for door panels) when needed to fulfill an order, register a warranty, or coordinate delivery

  • Our installation team and subcontractors, who need your address and project details to do the work

  • Payment processors and financial institutions to process payments when you become a customer

  • Government rebate programs when you choose to apply for an energy efficiency incentive and ask us to help

  • Professional advisors such as accountants, lawyers, or insurers, where reasonably required

  • Legal and regulatory authorities, if we're required to disclose information by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our clients, our team, or the public

We require every partner who handles your information to protect it to the same standards we do.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Like most websites, summitwindows.ca uses small text files called "cookies" to help the site run smoothly and to understand how visitors use it. We may use:

  • Essential cookies — required for the website and forms to work properly

  • Analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics) — to measure traffic and improve our pages

  • Marketing cookies — to show you relevant ads on other websites if you've visited ours

You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of the site work, but it won't stop you from getting in touch with us the old-fashioned way: by phone or email.

How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable physical, technical, and administrative steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. That includes:

  • Secure storage of physical and digital records

  • Limited access to your information — only Summit team members who genuinely need it

  • Encrypted website forms and secure data transmission where applicable

  • Ongoing review of our privacy and security practices

No method of transmitting or storing information is ever 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security — but we treat your information with the same care we'd want for our own.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy — and for as long as required by Canadian tax, warranty, and business records laws. When we no longer need it, we'll either delete it securely or anonymize it so it can no longer be linked to you.

Because our windows and doors carry Lifetime Warranties that are fully transferable, we may keep installation and product records for the lifetime of the product so that warranty service stays seamless for you or future owners of your home.

Your Privacy Rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you

  • Correct or update information that is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Withdraw your consent for us to use your information (subject to legal and contractual obligations — for example, we still need to keep certain records for warranty and tax purposes)

  • Unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time using the link in any message, or by replying with "unsubscribe"

  • Ask questions or make a complaint about how we've handled your information

To exercise any of these rights, just contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca(opens in new window) or 1-800-282-1376.

Children's Privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults — specifically homeowners and property owners making decisions about their homes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

Third-Party Links

Our website may include links to third-party websites — for example, our manufacturers (Vinylguard, Novatech, Garaga) or government rebate program pages. We don't control those websites and we're not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or the law. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll do our best to let you know directly — by email or a notice on our website.

We encourage you to check this page every now and then to stay informed.
